ed monahanI am probably not even in the top 20. I got mine on April 5, 1999. (Give or take a day). I know Wildcat, Dave Mills, Larry Lord got their cats before me. Who was the first one who is a member of POA?
I looked it up. It was Tuesday April 6, 1999, the day I got mine.

BeWareWe also got ours on April 15, 1999
idiveI paid for mine on December 31, 1997, but had to wait for the check to clear before they would let me take it home on Jan. 5, 1998. Unfortunately, I didnt know about the POA until about October 2002. What was April 6, 1999 that you mentioned?

tangled up in BLUE...Got my first one at Christmas...Dec. 22, but I can't remember if it was 1998 or 1999....it was one of the first '99 Black Kats made and was only at the dealers a few days before I bought it.......I think it was Dec. '98 ??? I will check this out for sure...
ALLEY CATMickey - I figure that you might be the one POA registered member who has owned their cat the longest. Maybe Mike K., Jerry Pignolo, Debbie Angell, and Larry Lord may also be in the running.

Think Ed meant he got his cat on that April date.

ed monahanThat is correct, I got mine on 4/6/99.

idiveI even know where Mike got his and what he paid for it (IF what they told me at the time was right). They delivered only 5 to Houston. Deerbrooke sold his to a German dealer in March 98 for 60K, which is what I offered him repeatedly from the time they got it, and was rejected. Crown sold his to a friend at cost in April 98. Charlie Thomas sold his to a guy in Tennessee. I didn't get a date or price on that sale, but his 72K offer was rejected by another dealer that wanted 80K. I bought mine from Archer on Dec. 29, 97 (correcting the above date - delivery date is right). I don't discuss what I paid, but I got a damn good deal, considering what they were selling for, so that leaves River Oaks for where Mike got his. They told me what it sold for, but its not for me to say. Out of the 5 delivered, only 3 stayed local, and I have encountered the other two that stayed here. Thats pretty incredible, for a city the size of Houston.

JKrehelYour exactly right Mickey! He bought it the night he saw it. They had to call a manger out of a Rockets game or something to come approve the sale. We drove it home late that night, probably 9:30 or so! It was really cold, but Mike drove with the top down and pulled the trailer. What a first drive! There was no test drive, but he did get to sit in it first!
WildCatput a deposit to reserve the 2nd Prowler the dealer might get on 2/26/96, expected a Purple but glad it came in Yellow

got call on 7/13/98 that they had something to tell me
seen for the 1st time on the 14th and drove it home on the 15th of July 1998

Dave MillsLarry, we talked about this before. You beat me by one day.

idiveMike & Judy - I happened to called them about 5 minutes after it was dropped off the truck, and rushed down there to see it and make an offer. Out of the 5, this was the first to be dropped off. It was in make-ready getting spiffed up when I got there. They already had the trailer shined. I waited for the car outside of make-ready. They had a news crew out there interviewing people about their thoughts on the car and asking if they would buy one. I said, "If THIS one isn't going to be mine, then another one will be, but I'm DEFINITELY gonna get one!". They let 3 people sit in it before taking it inside. First was a man, Then a lady. I was the 3rd. The news crew took a shot of the lady in it, then got me on film behind the wheel too. I ended up on the editors floor. Before they took it inside, they asked me if I wanted to take it for a test drive. I said, "No. I already know I want it. We just need to work the price", and I made them an offer. (Actually, I was thrilled at the offer to drive it, but was too scared to. LOL) He said he didn't know what he would decide to sell it for when the time came. He wanted it on his floor for a while first. I kept in touch, but he never accepted my offer (obviously). (Just a little tidbit of trivia on your first Kat.) I don't blame Mike for driving it home with the top down. I bet it was hard to tell which grill was bigger... the Kat's, or Mikes!

ed monahanReading some of the stories about how people got their cats is very interesting. Maybe we need a thread about the adventures and the chases to get them.
So far it looks like Mike K. has the first, last and only.
The FIRST one to get a cat who is also a POA member.
The LAST cat produced
and the owner of the ONLY High Voltage Blue.

tangled up in BLUEEd ....My wife was using a red '97 Sebring conv. as her regular transportation, but the car was starting to literally stink...it was at the local DC dealership where they found a swimming pool(complete with water) in the trunk....carpet was wet/moldy all the way under the rear seats....while it was in for repairs I was looking for another car for her for Christmas and was going to get rid of the Sebring...I NEVER liked that car....a buddy of mine and I had spent the day in Indy and I had made a deal on a new '99 red Vette conv. that afternoon....on the way back from Indy my buddy was telling me about a Prowler for sale at a dealership in Noblesville, In. we stopped in to look at the car and they wanted MSRP plus $10k....the car was for sale so "cheap" because a small kid had drawn all over the car with a rock while his parents were talking to the salesman about their mini-van purchase....the paint was destroyed on EVERY body panel except the drivers door....my buddy owned a Prowler and was telling me how much fun they were, but I wasn't really interested in one at all....we drove on back to New Castle to check on my Sebring to see if it was ready yet so I could get the Vette trade done before Christmas....The owner of the dealership is an old friend of mine and I was telling him about trading for the Vette and he asked why I didn't buy the black Prowler from him.....It was priced $75K....I told him I wasn't interested in paying a premium for a car I really didn't want...he then told me the price was for rookies and would I want the car for MSRP?....we worked out a verbal trade on the spot, they stored the car in the showroom till Christmas Eve.....Now it's Christmas day....take my wife out to our daughters house for her surprise and she got mad at me because I had traded her Sebring for a Prowler....her first words were "how do you expect me to drive that stupid thing in the snow"....so it became my car...all things worked out in the end ps...to this day, 8 Prowlers later, my wife still doesn't like Prowlers very well....main complaint is not being able to see out....in retrospect, I should have gotten a taller wife to start with
ed monahanTangled, That is what I meant when I said there are some very interestig stories about getting your Prowler. Thanks for sharing.
One of the local guys went to get his wife a car and got himself a Prowler instead. We bumped into them a few days later and she would not even get out of the car and was not smiling. She said it was real hard for her to like the car due to the circumstances. She thought she was getting a Jag and he came home with a PT and she said, "Forget it" so he returned the PT and got himself a Prowler. They are still married a year later.
